Road Trip Day 2

September 3, 2008

We drove to Astoria, Oregon. Lots of logging trucks.

We had yummy wraps for lunch at nice pub. I had a pretty good pale ale. We went up to the Astoria Column. It was closed, but they still wanted to charge us for parking. When we left, I argued with the GPS. I lost.

We stopped at Sunset beach and drove right out onto the beach. The GPS said we were out in the ocean…see, it’s not always right.

We stopped at an outlet mall at Seaside and both found shoes in record time. I bought the same brand and style as I was wearing before. was disappointed in me. I found a nice cast iron pot. wanted me to get it, but I didn’t. We just bought new pots and we also have a slow cooker.

We’re staying at the Tolovana Inn at Cannon Beach. The room doesn’t face the water, but it’s a nicer place then we stayed at the night before and it’s cheaper and the wireless internet works. The problem is…they are having a wicked storm here. Seriously. Even though we’re not facing the water, the wind howls through the door jam. It’s raining so hard that after a 10 minute walk on the beach, we were soaked to the skin. The weather guy says all sorts of records were broken today and it doesn’t look like it’s going to clear up until Friday. It’s been so miserable we didn’t even bother walking between buildings to get to the swimming pool. It hasn’t all been bad though. We’ve fucked twice since we got here and used the new flogger on me.  We’re planning on spending one more night here to explore Cannon Beach, but I don’t think we’ll eat at the restaurant at the hotel again. The Black Haystack Ale was good, but there wasn’t much on the menu that wasn’t deep-fried.

I talked to D twice today. We are officially homeless.  Our house is sold and the deal on the apartment hasn’t been completed yet. It’s a strange feeling…the house selling, buying an apartment with and buying new stuff for it, Junior moving out. On the one hand we all know it’s time for him to spread his wings, but on the other…he’s so unprepared. I hope he does better then I did.
