Did I ever tell you about our first official date? We met online and had spent quite a bit of time chatting and we’d talked on the phone a few times (we may have even had phone sex by then). We met in person once and went for a walk in a park. It was pleasant enough, but I was nervous and I knew I hadn’t really wow’d her. She agreed to go out on a real dinner date with me and I was determined to make a great impression.

 

I don’t remember the details, but the day of the date hadn’t unfolded like it was supposed to for her. She called me several times during the afternoon to give me updates. With each call she was getting a little more frustrated and was going to be just a little bit later then when she called the time before. Finally she called to say she was on her way. Dinner was at an intimate little (redundant?) restaurant on the beach. The bakery I work at has been making their bread for years so I was on a first name basis with the owner and we were treated very well. The only slight disappointment with dinner was that ♀ ordered the plainest item on the menu. I remember thinking she must not have a very adventurous palate and that might be a problem. Want to hear something funny? We went to the same restaurant to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary in May and she ordered something she’d never tried before (swordfish, I think) I commented on how brave and willing to try new things she’d become. It turns out when I took her there the first time she wasn’t looking for the plainest item, she was looking for the cheapest item. She couldn’t believe anyone would pay over $20 for an entree.

 

After dinner we went back to my sad little basement suite. I’d only been single for a couple of months and didn’t have a TV or stereo, but I put some nice jazz of the ‘puter. I had some wine chilled and we sat together on my one couch. At some point during the evening I told her that bakers have very strong hands and I offered to give her a foot rub. She seemed to really enjoy that so I mentioned that I’d taken a massage course and maybe if she wanted to lay down on my bed I could give her a massage. She said yes, I went to go get candles and warm up the massage oil and when I got back to my bedroom she was laying face down on my bed in just her bra and panties.
