The Honest (S)crap Award

January 27, 2009

I don’t usually participate in these meme things (they seem like just so much navel gazing), but I’m making an exception for three very good reasons:

First of all, I was tagged by the amazing and sexy Sapphire J. She’s amazing for a bunch of reasons and sexy for a bunch more reasons. So you see ‘amazingly sexy’ just isn’t good enough (though it would certainly apply). I’m indebted to her for saying nice things to zoe  about me and this seems like a good way balance the scales…a karma thing.

Secondly, ♀ has been saying for quite awhile now that I should do an update to my surprisingly popular 99 Things About Me list. I was just going to change the items that are different now but she felt that since that was the the truth then, I shouldn’t tinker with it.  Hopefully, she’ll be satisfied with this list of 10 things.

The third reason for participating is that it wasn’t called a meme at all. It’s an award and seriously, who can say no to an award?

Guidelines when winning the Honest Scrap award:

1. List 10 honest things about yourself (try to make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!)

2. Pass the award on to 10 bloggers.

10 Honest things about Sweat Shop Sissy:

1.  ♀ is my Yoko Ono and I know that loving her and being loved by her in return is the greatest thing I will ever know.

2.  I love our boys, but I must admit  I’m really liking this ‘empty nest’  lifestyle. It turns out my mother was right. ‘Life begins when the kids move out and the pets all die.’

3.  ♀ & I have a much better understanding of what being a sissy means now then when I wrote the ’99 Things about Me’  list. This interview explains things quite well.

4.  I don’t see the evolution of Goddess/sissy/  ever ending. When we first started exploring this, I was very excited. This whole new world was opening up to me and I wanted to see everything, explore everywhere and I wanted to do it all right now. ♀ found it pretty overwhelming. Now I think we are at a place where we both know we’re going to continue to explore and grow. I don’t need to force it and she doesn’t need to be intimidated by it.

5.  However, if there was one thing I could change, it would be how she treats my ass. She loves the shape of it, she really seems to enjoy spanking/biting/scratching/pinching it, she even likes sticking this into it (we have the large one), but she just doesn’t seem to enjoy strapping one on and pegging it.

6. I think it’s very likely that other people will be invited into our bedroom. Not because there’s something missing (except for # 5), but the right people would be invited to add to our pleasure.

7.  If and when that happens I think we would both approach it from a hetero-flexible  point of view.

8.  I doubt that anybody who really knows us would be surprised to learn that I’m a sissy. I’ll go even further then that…I doubt that anybody from my past who really knew me would be very surprised. (Provided of course, they were opened minded enough to listen to what it meant)

9.  When I was in grade 8, I left a creative writing assignment until the night before it was due and when I sat down to write it I drew a blank. I panicked and copied a story out of an old Readers Digest (this was pre-internet). I think the teacher tried to shame me into admitting it was plagiarized because she entered it into a district wide writing contest. It won ‘Honorable Mention’, I never did admit that I cheated and I still feel guilty about it.

10.  I started SSS for several different reasons. It seemed like a good way to chronicle our exploration of ‘sissy’, I wanted to celebrate our relationship (in many ways it’s just one long love letter) and I hoped it would force me to sit down and write on a regular basis. There was one other less obvious, but no less important reason. I wanted needed to stave off depression (a lifelong struggle) after a disastrous access and custody battle. If I had to pick one thing about SSS that I’m most proud of, it’s that it has stayed so positive…to write and hopefully to visit as well.

OK, now I’m supposed to pass this on to 10 other bloggers. The problem with that is, the bloggers who I really enjoy reading dig deep every time they publish so I’m not going to pester them with this. But ♀ & I were thinking it would be nice to know who you are dear reader. We’re not asking for a whole list.  Just tell us one thing about yourself. It’ll be our version of Post Secret …without the post cards or a gazillion people reading it on Sunday morning.

Cheers,

♀ & sss
